Terms & Conditions - Lighthouse Hunters

Lighthouse Hunters
Last updated: 6 September 2026

These terms cover your membership of Lighthouse Hunters, operated by The Tidy Tradie (ABN 91 826 977 585) trading as Lighthouse Hunters. By creating an account or purchasing a membership you agree to these terms.

1. What Lighthouse Hunters is
Lighthouse Hunters is a digital lighthouse passport. Members visit land-based Australian lighthouses, check in using GPS through the app, and collect verified digital stamps with dates and photos. The app runs in a web browser at app.lighthousehunters.com.au.

2. Accounts
You need an account to use the app. Keep your sign-in details secure. You are responsible for activity on your account. One account per person. You must give us a valid email address so we can contact you about your membership.

3. Membership and pricing
Membership is an annual subscription billed through Stripe. The standard price is $99 per year including GST. Founding members (the first 20 paying members) pay $49 including GST for their first year, then $99 per year after that. Prices may change for future years, and we will tell you before any renewal at a new price.
Your membership renews automatically each year unless you cancel. We will not be sneaky about it. Stripe emails a receipt for every payment.

4. Cancelling
You can cancel any time. When you cancel, your membership does not renew, and you keep full access until the end of the year you have paid for. Your stamps stay in your passport, and if you rejoin later they will be waiting for you.

5. Refunds
Change of mind: if you join and decide it is not for you, tell us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund it in full, no questions asked. This applies to your first year only, not renewals.
Renewals: if a renewal payment goes through and you did not mean it to, contact us within 14 days of the renewal and we will refund it, as long as you have not checked in during that new year.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law: nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If the service has a major problem or is not as described, you are entitled to remedies under that law regardless of the windows above.
Outside those situations, membership fees are not refunded for a part year. Cancelling stops the renewal rather than refunding the current year.
To ask for a refund, email tonygouv@hotmail.com from the address on your account.

6. Check-ins and stamps
A stamp is earned by checking in at a lighthouse. The app reads your location at the moment you check in and confirms you are within 50 metres of the lighthouse.
GPS is not perfect. If a genuine visit fails to verify because of device or signal problems, contact us and we will review it manually. We would rather stamp a real visit than lose one to a flat spot in phone reception.
Stamps must be earned honestly. We may reject or remove stamps that we reasonably believe were obtained by faking or spoofing a location, sharing an account, or otherwise gaming the system. Repeated abuse may result in account closure without refund of the current year.

7. Past visits
If you visited lighthouses before joining, you can submit evidence and we will verify and stamp those visits at our reasonable discretion. What counts as sufficient evidence is up to us, but we approach it in good faith. Dated photos are the easiest.

8. Your photos
Photos you upload stay yours. By uploading them you give us a non-exclusive licence to store and display them in the app as part of your passport. We will not use your photos in marketing without asking you first. You must only upload photos you took or have the right to use, and nothing offensive or unlawful. We may remove photos that break this rule.

9. The lighthouse list
We have personally verified 183 land-based lighthouses across Australia. The list may change over time as lighthouses are added, reclassified between passports, or removed if circumstances change (for example a site becomes permanently inaccessible). Changes to the list do not entitle anyone to a refund, and stamps already earned are never taken away by a list change.

10. Availability
We aim to keep the app available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The app depends on third-party services including hosting, payments and email. Planned maintenance and occasional outages happen. Checking in requires phone reception at the lighthouse, which is outside our control.

11. Safety
Lighthouse hunting is done at your own risk. Some lighthouses, particularly in the Extreme passport, involve remote areas, boats, cliffs and rough country. You are responsible for your own safety, preparation and decisions when visiting any lighthouse. Check conditions, tell someone where you are going, and do not take risks for a stamp.

12. Fair use and conduct
Do not attempt to interfere with the app, other members' accounts or data, or the verification system. Be decent in anything you submit.

13. Closing your account
You can ask us to close your account at any time by emailing tonygouv@hotmail.com. We may close accounts that seriously or repeatedly breach these terms. If we close your account for a breach, the current year is not refunded. If we ever discontinue the service entirely, we will refund the unused portion of paid memberships on a pro-rata basis.

14. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the membership fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a significant change we will let members know by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
