The Leading Light Tower, Newcastle, and the hunt for its missing sister

Thanks to Arkeebolo's Travels with Charles and Caz, we found the Leading Light Tower in Newcastle NSW. It then got Kez and I thinking about its old sister tower, which no longer exists.
An old website article said its concrete base was still in someone's front yard in Perkin St. We had very little information on the tower as it was demolished in 1933.
We walked up and down Perkin Street searching for it but had no luck.
I got talking with an older lady walking by and she invited us to look through her original 1870s cottage. On our tour, Kez noticed an original photo on the wall showing a view up Perkin St with the churches. We thought maybe there would be other photos showing where the light tower was.
As we kept searching, I went online and found a website showing an old sketch of what the light tower looked like. I went back to the first photo we saw and compared it, and there it was! If you looked closely you could see it right in front of the old church, which has since been demolished.

All three of us were amazed to see the actual sister light tower. It felt like a treasure hunt. From that we worked out which property the old tower used to be in. There's nothing left to see unfortunately, as the property has been upgraded.
Talk about a fun adventure!
