How it works

Step 1 — Visit

Pick a lighthouse from the map and get yourself there. Some are a stroll from the car park. Some will test you.

Step 2 — Check in

Open the app at the lighthouse. GPS checks you're within 50 metres, so every stamp is earned on the spot, not from the couch.

Step 3 — Stamp it

The stamp goes in your digital passport with the date. Add your photos and build a record of every one you've hunted.

The Three Passports

Standard

The mainland classics. Accessible by road or a decent walk. This is where most hunters start.

104 lighthouses

Extreme

Islands, boat or helicopter access, remote coastline. These take planning, effort and sometimes a skipper.

62 lighthouses

Heritage

Replicas, museums and historic sites that tell the story of Australia's coast.

16 lighthouses

Every stamp is GPS verified. When you say you've done all 182, you can prove it.

Our Story

Lighthouse Hunters was born from a passionate desire of traveling the Australian coastline and studying the history of lighthouses.

Tony and Kerri-Ann built this system to track their own 47 lighthouse adventures.

The 50-metre GPS rule exists because a stamp should mean you were there. We believe in the authenticity of the hunt.

FAQ

Can I cancel?

Any time. Your membership runs to the end of the year you've paid for.

I've already visited heaps of lighthouses. Do they count?

Yes. Show us your evidence and we'll verify your past visits and stamp your passport, then you check in live from there.

Does it work everywhere in Australia?

Yes. All 182 lighthouses are mapped with verified coordinates, from city breakwalls to remote islands. You'll need phone reception at the lighthouse to check in.

Do you track my location?

No. The app reads your location only at the moment you press check in, to confirm you're within 50 metres. It's never recorded in the background.

What's a founding membership?

The first 20 paying members get their first year for $49 inc. GST instead of $99. After the 20 spots go, membership is $99 a year.
